Division,Extracurricular Activity Division, Counseling Center,Division Of
Career Development,Health and Hygiene Division As of 2002 the total
enrollment of the university is at 10,451. In compliance with the ordnance
of the University Law, this Office maintains five divisions dealing with
matters such as student affairs, extracurricular activities, health and
hygiene, Division Of Career Development, and student counseling. The
office also supervises five committees dealing with tasks such as student
merit and discipline, student appeal, health education, food and
sanitation and gender equality promotion.
Responsibilities:
I.Student Matters Division
01. to maintain the records of students’ attendance, absence and
conduct;
02. to handle student loans and tuition remissions;
03. to process scholarship applications such as She-wo Scholarship,
studying abroad scholarships, top student awards, and scholarship for
students in need;
04. to provide “emergency aid” for students;
05. to organize orientation lectures on topics such as personal
safety, earthquake, fire escape, and traffic safety;
06. to sponsor advisors’ seminars in order to enhance interactions
between students and professors;
07. to supervise community service program. Effective the year 2000,
all freshmen must participate in a community service program for a
minimum of eight-hour per semester for one year.
08. to maintain the “Emergency Response Room”,( phone number :
02-2236-7935) to provide around the clock emergency services for
students;
09. to process student accommodation application, room assignment
and management. All the rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and
access to the Internet;
10. to operate “Center for Student Services,” which provides
information and services on housing, health insurance, student
congresses and clubs, leisure activities, studying abroad, job
opportunities, and career counseling.
II. Extracurricular Activity Division
01. to facilitate activities organized by 88 student clubs, senior
students association, and student congresses;
02. to assist and provide facilities and equipment for student clubs
as well as to evaluate and award citations to clubs;
03. to issue student activity passports catalogue activities as
references for scholarship and job applications; and
04. To maintain website: http//club.cc.shu.edu.tw providing update
information on club activities.
III. Counseling Center
01.Purpose: to provide counseling on coping with emotional,
learning, interpersonal relationship, adjustment, career planning, and
mental health problem.
02.Resources: the center engages 11 counselors, 1 psychiatrist and
maintains group and individual counseling rooms.

04.Open hour:Monday through Friday, 8:00am~5:20pm.
05.Services:
a.Individual Counseling: helping students to cope with problems
stemming from learning, emotional, family, career, gender, and
inter-personal relationship difficulties;
b.Group Counseling: sponsoring seminars on self-fulfillment,
gender, family and inter-personal relationships, adjustment, emotional
management and career planning;
c.Psychological Tests: administering 62 types of tests on career,
aptitudes and inter-personal relationships;
d.Courses/Lectures in Different Departments: talks of life,
learning, relationship and career;
e.Department Counseling- topics relating to departmental interest
for advisors and advisees;
f.Psychiatric Appointment:Psychiatrists who specialize in the
diagnosis and treatment of mood, anxiety, depression, and sleeping
difficulty;

h.Bulletins: topics covering leisure, relationships, emotional
management and career prospect;
i.Reference Library: materials on self-fulfillment, inter-personal

IV.Division Of Career Development
01. to sponsor activities related to job market and employment
opportunities;
02. to provide information on job openings and to sponsor job fairs
for enterprises to recruit graduating students;
03. to supply information on advanced studies at home and
abroad
04. to sponsor on campus work opportunities.
V. Health and Hygiene Division
The health and hygiene division provides a systematic support network
that involves university staff, teachers, medical doctors, nurses,
psychologists, counselors, social workers, nutritionists and other
health workers. The scope of the service includes individual, families,
and community.
The division now maintains a director, one full-time nurse and one
night-shift nurse.
01. Health Services
a. to provide health services and consultation;
b. to administer freshmen physical check-ups;
c. to administer faculty and staff physical check-ups;
d. to follow up on cases that require treatment and referral;
e. to prevent tuberculosis;
f. to administer the inocculation of hepatitis B;
g. to prevent epidemic;
h. to provide medical aid and equipment such as first aid kits,
canes, stretchers, wheelchairs, ice and hot packs;
i. to manage student health insurance policies and claims;
j. to manage the health insurance policies and claims of overseas
and international students;
k. to chair various committees related to health education and
Cafeteria management;
l. to procure medical equipment and supplies.
02. Health Education
a. to provide health information via posters, magazines, videos
and Internet;
b. to produce bulletins on health on a monthly theme;
c. to offer lectures on health in conjunction with the theme of
the bulletins;
d. to organize the following first aid training courses:
1) elementary first aid training (15 hours)
2) freshman CPR seminar (4 hours)
3) university wide DPR contest
4) faculty and staff first-aid course (15 hours)
5) advanced first-aid course (42 hours)
e. to conduct blood donation drive twice a semester
03. Health and Environment
a. to maintain the quality of water outlets on campus;
b. to supervise the sanitation of the cafeteria and
concessions.
04. Others
a. to regulate matters relating to university sanitation law,
sanitation committees; caterer sanitation supervision committee,
medical emergency management, medical equipment supplies;
b. to implement the computerization of administrative work;
c. to offer health education activities in conjunction with
district health clinics.
d. to instructor first-aid course
e. to assist the Taipei Red Cross in promoting
first-aid.
